TransLink makes application for fare increase

Since TransLink proposes to increase some “short term” fares faster than 2% per year, to be implemented in 2013, it makes an application for a fare increase for the commission’s approval. The application must be decided by the commission within 90 days, i.e. by March 27 2012.

Commission Requests Qualifications from Consultants for Review of TransLink’s Efficiency

Today the TransLink Commission is making a Request for Qualifications from consultants. In anticipation of an application from TransLink for a fare increase requiring our approval, the Commission is seeking assistance to review the Authority’s efficiency. The review will occur through March 2012. The project budget includes $80,000 for consulting advice.

Commissioner Publishes Opinion on TransLink’s 2012 Supplemental Plan “Moving Forward”

In a report published today, the commissioner finds that, overall, the parameters and assumptions of TransLink’s 2012 Supplemental Plan titled “Moving Forward” are reasonable. The plan sets out the additional services, projects and programmes, including its contribution to the Evergreen Rapid Transit Line, that TransLink would deliver using $1.24 billion of additional revenue. i.e. in addition to the revenue it expects to receive from established sources over the ten years through 2021 as described in its 2012 Base Plan and Outlook (see September 2 item, below). Here are:

Commissioner Reports to Mayors’ Council

At a public meeting of the Mayors’ Council, the commissioner made a presentation on his findings on the 2012 Base Plan and Outlook (see below for written report) and on the 2012 Supplemetal Plan titled “Moving Forward”.  Here are the slides from the September 15 presentation.

Commissioner Publishes Opinion on TransLink’s 2012 Base Plan and Outlook

In a report published today, the commissioner provides a formal opinion on the reasonableness of the parameters and assumptions of TransLink’s 2012 Base Plan and Outlook. TransLink’s Plan sets out the services, projects and programmes it would deliver using the $16 billion of revenues that it expects to receive from established sources over the ten years through 2021. Here are:

TransLink is currently consulting the public and stakeholders on a Supplement to the above Base Plan. Here is a draft version. If the Supplement is approved, the commissioner will, within 30 days, provide his opinion on it also.

Commissioner Issues Annual Report for 2010

Today the commissioner issued his Annual Report for 2010. In his report, after examining TransLink’s 2010 Statutory Annual Report and other materials, the commissioner finds that in 2010 TransLink operated in accordance with its transportation and financial plan, which was called the Funding Stabilization Plan and was approved by the Mayors’ Council in 2009.

The commissioner’s annual report also:

  • records the commissioner’s activities during 2010; and
  • publishes the commissioner’s financial statements for 2010.
